- Residential Slope Stability and Set-Back
- Residential Slope Stability and Set-Back
- Overview
Geotechnical Site Investigation, Slope Stability and Set-Back Distance were done for several residential homes in the Edmonton area..
- Project Goal
The purpose of the site investigation was to address the following:
- Ground surface elevation at each borehole location Obtaining soil samples at 0.75 m intervals. Conduct soil shear strength parameters and impact on subgrade performance.
- Identification of utility crossings and any other pertinent information for the City of Edmonton.
- Results
- A total of 2 boreholes was drilled during the drilling program.
- ZALIG performed slope stability analyses using the existing soil obtained from borehole drilling. Due to stringent budget correlations and experience of soil parameters in the Alberta regions was adopted in selecting parameters. Seismic analysis was added in design.
- ZALIG partnered with the City Engineers to enforce set-back distance for the safe construction of the buildings.
Laboratory testing includes the following:
- Moisture Content ASTM D2216
- Atterberg Limits ASTM 4318
- Project Benefits:
- Fixed cost
- Achieved scope requirements
- The Project was completed ahead of schedule
