- Redwater Fractionation Addition (RFS II)
- Redwater Fractionation Addition (RFS II)

- Overview
In July of 2012 ZALIG under the platform of Stewart Weir & Co. Ltd. began a geotechnical site investigation & report for the above mentioned development on the behalf of Pembina NGL Corporation and the final report is expected to be complete in November. The project includes the construction of small to large diameter, above ground and underground, storage tanks, office/equipment buildings, flare stacks, and a storm water retention pond.
- Project Goal
The purpose of this investigation was to address the following issues:
- Ground surface elevation at each borehole
- Installation of standpipe piezometers to monitor stabilized groundwater
- levels in boreholes
- Obtaining soil samples (as per ASTM D1587) at 0.75 m
- Performing pocket penetrometer readings on soil samples
- Standard penetration test (SPT) at 1.5 m interval in all boreholes
- Obtain stabilized groundwater table readings
- Conduct CPT and shear wave velocity testing at selected locations
- Conduct suitable laboratory testing to permit the development of geotechnical design parameters for earthwork and foundation design
- Results
Laboratory testing includes the following:
- Moisture Content ASTM D2216
- Sulphate Analysis ASTM C1580
- Atterberg Limits ASTM 4318
- Consolidation Test ASTM D2435-90
- Unconf. Comp. Strength ASTM D2166
- Hydrometer Analysis ASTM D421/422
- Project Benefits:
- Fixed cost
- Achieved scope requirements
- The Project was completed ahead of schedule
