Stabilization of Moving Dantzer Hill Slope

Overview

Geotechnical Site Investigation, Slope Stability/Soil Settlement Analysis and Material Testing were done.

 

Project Goal

The purpose of the site investigation was to address the following:

  • Ground surface elevation at each borehole location Obtaining soil samples at 0.75 m interval. Conduct soil shear strength parameters and impact on subgrade performance.
  • Identification of utility crossings and any other pertinent information for the City of Edmonton.

 

Results

  • A total of 3 boreholes was drilled during the drilling program.
  • ZALIG installed inclinometers and monitored it for deep seated movements. Surficl movement was monitored using monuments and 6 by 6 grid to determine any potential movement.

Laboratory testing includes the following:

  • Moisture Content ASTM D2216

  • Proctor Tests

  • Atterberg Limits ASTM 4318

  • Compaction Tests

Project Benefits:

  • Achieved scope requirements

  • The Project was completed ahead of schedule
